Tommy

Tommy is still doing well after waking up on the 27th February 2010.
With having his warm daily baths his kidneys & bowels are now functioning well.
He is eating everyday and I am gradually introducing him back into his garden. His seed trays are sprouting and the dandelions are up so he has a variety of weeds to choose from.
He only spends time outside for a short while if the sun is out and after he has warmed up in his vivarium as it is still too cold to leave him out all day and night. Natural sunlight even on a hazy or cloudy day is far better for him than the artificial light in his vivarium however the temperature has to be correct otherwise he wouldn’t function properly and this could lead to immediate or latent health problems. He requires exercise too and his vivarium is not ideal for this as he needs a rough terrain of different surfaces to help build up his leg muscles so he can flip himself over if he lands on his back (carapace). I have been monitoring his weight on a regular basis, even when he was hibernating and his weight has increased already. He now weighs 744g.
